One would think that these effects are not that good and just here to add something to this mixing desk, but not only do they sound great…Įven better than some commercial plugins, but they are also extremely easy to set with just a pair of parameter knobs. They come loaded with studio-quality effects from Lexicon like Reverb, Delay, Chorus, Modulation and other effects and dbx limiters on the input channels. This Mixer’s interface will also allow you to use the plugins on your DAW for actual live performances in real time as well as for studio monitoring without any latency at all. These preamps also come with a Sapphyre Asymmetric EQ, which has two separate mid-bands, allowing you to EQ everything thoroughly. They have the Ghost preamps, which are the ones featured on their Ghost Consoles which are the top of the line. They are of extremely good quality giving you a lot of headroom, wide dynamic range and good signal to noise ratio.

The MTK series are fantastic for anyone who is building a home studio and wants a good Mixer with loads of inputs and options.

It is important to make the distinction between the MTK series and the regular ones īoth can be connected to the PC via USB but the regular ones only offer two channels for stereo recording and supports 24-bit/192kHz resolution, while the MTK ones offer 12 or 22 Multi-track recording but at a reduced 24-bit/48kHz sample rate. They both allow for 12 or 22 multi-track recording respectively. without a whole lot of fuss. The Signature MTK 12 and 22 series from Soundcraft are analog mixers which also come with onboard effects and USB multi-track recording and playback. I know we can obviously do it one track at a time but we are just looking to capture quick songs at practice etc.
I would like to avoid having to buy any more equipment right now if possible. I have been having a hard time finding specific info on this online and I am still a newb somewhat when it comes to these interfaces. We set the levels on the mixer so they sounded ok when recording, but ideally we would have each of us on our own tracks in Garageband so we can duplicate tracks afterwards and play with effects etc. One question I have though about the Alesis mixer is if it's possible to output each channel into Garageband and have them be on separate tracks? We had my singer into input 1 and my guitar into input 2 on the mixer, and they were combined into 1 track in Garageband when recording. It worked fine and the results were as good as I would have expected for our first go-around.

The Alesis has a direct USB line to hook directly up to a computer so I used my '14 Macbook Pro and ran it into Garageband to record. I also had a spare Alesis Multimix 8 USB 2.0 FX hanging around that my singer and I wanted to use for when we do acoustic gigs (just he and I). We have a pretty basic PA system: Yamaha MG166CX into two EV ZLX112P's. We gave it a run last night but I had a couple questions to improve it. So my band has decided to record some acoustic songs and we have some equipment at our disposal to do it with.
